Level 3 First Aid at Work (3 Day)

What the Course Covers
 

• The roles and responsibilities of a first aider
• Assessing incidents and ensuring safety
• Managing unresponsive casualties, adult CPR, and safe AED use
• The recovery position and monitoring breathing
• Medical emergencies including heart attacks, strokes, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, choking, and anaphylaxis
• Head, spinal, and chest injuries
• Wounds, bleeding, fractures, and shock
• Burns, scalds, and eye injuries
• Sprains, strains, and dislocations
• Poisoning and other serious medical emergencies
   

Anaphylaxis and Allergy Response

Anaphylaxis is covered as one of the medical conditions on the course, giving learners the confidence to recognise a severe allergic reaction and respond quickly.

Trainers cover the common triggers, including insect stings, medications, and food allergens, and the warning signs to watch for, from swelling around the throat and lips to breathing difficulty and a sudden feeling of faintness.

Learners practise the response sequence step by step: positioning the casualty, administering an adrenaline auto injector, calling 999 or 112, and giving a second injector if symptoms persist.

If the casualty becomes unconscious, they are taught to check the airway and breathing and begin CPR.
